GIS Specialist

  • Providing GIS support to project managers, scientists, resource authors, and other GIS team members on a variety of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, including but not limited to: Resource Management Plans, Environmental Impact Statements, Biological Assessments, and Environmental Assessments

  • Serving as the lead or supporting GIS contact on large-scale, multi-year federal projects. Responsible for facilitating effective communication between the company and the client regarding GIS needs

  • Conducting spatial analysis on public and private datasets using Model Builder and Python to create quantitative knowledge for scientists and resource authors

  • Production of maps using ArcMap and ArcPro that illustrate the narrative of a NEPA document while also adhering to cartographic and federal mapping standards

  • Development of web maps using ArcGIS Online for public usage during virtual public meetings and NEPA comment periods.

  • Utilizing ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Field Maps to aid field crews in seamless data collection

  • Developing training workflows to be deployed at the Park level for field data collection through aforementioned web GIS applications

  • Participated as a trainer in multi-day Mobile Data Collection training sessions with technical and non-technical audiences alike

  • Assisting teammates with various aspects of long-term projects, focused mainly on data management and data integrity with the goal of hosting authoritative datasets for internal and external usage

Paleobotany Internship

May 2018 - August 2018

  • Conducted field work consisting of identifying potential fossiliferous rock layers, extracting fossils from layers, and packaging fossils for safe transport.

  • Utilizing a Trimble differential GPS unit for field data collection. Geo-rectifying, projecting, and combining with an existing database when back at the museum.

  • Lab work on extracted fossils focused on highlighting and preserving the most useful and worthwhile fossil present on rock.

  • Categorizing fossils based on shared characteristics through a Morphotyping process.

  • Scientific outreach and education through discussion with Museum members at "meet and greet" events and conducting field work with teenage volunteers.

Earth Sciences Collections Assistant

November 2016 - May 2020

  • Providing geospatial consultation to Paleontologists regarding GPS unit configuration and GIS-based post-processing workflows for ongoing research projects

  • Updating existing geodatabases with field data collected using a Trimble Differential GPS unit after post-processing

  • Cleaning large datasets to ensure spatial accuracy of fieldwork sites

  • Assisting with identifying, cataloging, and managing the museum’s collection of prehistoric fossils

National Park Service

Student Volunteer

April 2018 - July 2018

  • Utilized pertinent data from Park-level database in development of public-facing web maps

  • Created a story map on ArcGIS Online from public web maps and Park’s Foundation Document to highlight the Manhattan Project National Historical Park for park visitors

  • Received a signed Appreciation Letter from the Associate Regional Director of the National Park Service Intermountain Region for work completed
